Dissemination and networking

The connection between academia and industry is of fundamental importance to implement research and ensure the translation of results. For this reason, attending events that guarantee the dialogue between these two realities should be of pivotal importance.

For this reason, our Post-Docs attended congresses and events that facilitate the results and know-how exchange, like ISPROCHEM or the 11th Novalix Conference, Biophysics in Drug Discovery (Strasbourg, France, May 20-22, 2025). To this latter event Roberta Listro also shared her results via a poster entitled Identifying RNA-binding protein-interfering agents: Peptide Nucleic Acids (PNAs) as a functional tool for studying protein complexes.

Furthermore, sharing the results obtained in the lab is a pivotal step in scientific research. For this reason, the MedChem Lab always attends scientific congresses to share results and establish new collaborations.

Consistently, we attended the 59th International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry, RICT 2025, which took place on 2-4/07/2025 Orlean (France).

We contributed to the congress with two poster presentations by Dr Roberta Listro and Dr Martina Garbagnoli. Different contributions were respectively entitled:

  • STD-NMR competition studies using peptide nucleic acids: a useful tool for discovering new RNA-binding proteins interfering agents
  • HuR-RNA binding protein ligands as novel inhibitors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa adhesion in Cystic fibrosis

We also attended Congresso Nazionale della Divisione di Chimica dei Sistemi Biologici (DCSB, 18-20 June 2025) in Trieste, where Martina Garbagnoli presented her work entitled

  • Interfering in the formation of HuR-mRNA complexes with small molecules: A New Approach in Cancer Therapy.

Finally, Giacomo Rossino attended the Mid-Season Sustainable Pharmaceutical Applications Conference (Naples 5-6 May 2025) with an oral presentation entitles:

  • Toward a green Heck reaction protocol to access trisubstituted alkenes, useful pharmaceutical intermediates.
